Music Composer

The function and controls the music composer and its fields will be explained in the following sections.

You can find the Music Composer window under "Window > RetroKit > Music Composer".

Song properties

The Song properties

  1. The song selector.
  2. Create a new song.
  3. Delete the selected song.
  4. The name of selected song.
  5. The number of notes in a single bar of the selected song.
  6. The beats per minute (speed) of the selected song.
  7. The master volume of the selected song.
  8. Play the selected song.
  9. Export the selected song to a .wav file.

Pattern properties

The Pattern properties

  1. The pattern selector.
  2. Create a new pattern for the selected song.
  3. Delete the selected pattern.
  4. Duplicates the selected pattern.
  5. The name of the selected pattern.
  6. The number of bars the pattern consists of.
  7. The color that's used to represent the selected pattern in the track and pattern composers.
  8. The volume level for the selected pattern.
  9. The sample provider (instrument) used for the selected pattern.
  10. Visual representation of the sample provider (if available).
  11. Play the pattern in a loop. (Click again to stop playing.)

Pattern composer

The Pattern properties

  1. The pitch for this row. (Click on it for a preview.)
  2. Empty note slot.
  3. A note in the selected pattern.
  4. Current selection (cursor).

Decrease selection size Minus

Tracks

The Song tracks

  1. The track name.
  2. The track's volume level.
  3. Play the track.
  4. Pattern placed on the track.
  5. Empty space where patterns can be placed.
  6. Delete track.
  7. Create a new track for the selected song.

Add selected pattern Left-click empty space
Remove pattern Right-click pattern

If a pattern isn't being added it's likely because it would overlap with another placed pattern.
